We are often asked how successful friendsfirst is?

If you judge success by the number of marriages we've had then we are very successful. And if you add in the numbers of people making new friends (which is what some people join for) then it's even better

Single men wanted for Christmas

An introduction agency for Christian singles has been inundated with applications from single women this week - and has put out an appeal for more men to join before the holiday season begins.

There are often seasonal differences, but this year is exceptional said the director of friendsfirst Katharine Gray. We’ve had an influx of women of all ages joining - from young professionals to retired ladies. We know there are single men out there that would love to meet them and we want to make sure they have that chance before the New Year begins.

Christmas can be a difficult time for single people. Once the parties, family get-togethers and church activities are over it can feel very lonely during the long holiday. At the same time that precious free time is a good opportunity for making contact with new people.

friendsfirst has a very different approach to other agencies and emphasises the idea of introducing clients to potential friends rather than likely marriage partners.

Often at first people are looking for companionship rather than romance. Katharine said. It’s generally so easy for the men on our books because they have such a great choice of women. We find that when men take the plunge and join us, their membership are quite short as they tend to find new friends and soul mates quickly.

Over the years many friendships have bloomed into something more and friendsfirst has now celebrated many marriages.

friendsfirst is a Christian agency and clients come from all denominations.  Some clients will be specifically looking for someone from their own church, said Katharine. Others are happy to meet someone who broadly shares their faith and beliefs.
