We are often asked how successful friendsfirst is?

If you judge success by the number of marriages we've had then we are very successful. And if you add in the numbers of people making new friends (which is what some people join for) then it's even better

Mothers ensure your daughters use wisdom on the internet

July 2006

"Is your daughter using an internet dating agency to find love?

These days, many Christian women are using the internet and other means to find someone of the opposite sex for friendship and perhaps a more romantic relationship.  However, many are unaware of the risks involved if they don't take adequate safety and common sense precautions.

There is a great temptation to give away too much personal information to an unknown stranger long before meeting face to face.  Our advice is simple: Use a secure dating agency that has a privacy policy and does not give out personal contact information; never reveal your home or work address or your telephone number until you are sure about the 'match'; use the agency as a go-between for contacting would-be partners and don't use an email address that reveals your full name. Be wary of agencies who focus solely on photographs and 'looks' to match people up.

If your daughters do arrange meetings, ensure it’s in a public place , never at their own home, and make sure their friends/parents know where they are going and have the details.

These are just a few of the good pieces of advice given out by friendsfirst which is a Christian friendship organisation supported by the church.

friendsfirst was established six years ago to help Christian singles develop Christian friendships, with the belief that from such friendships something more romantic may follow.  friendsfirst has helped thousands of Christians to find new friendships and many people have gone onto marriage.
