Ten Ways to Change Your Life

(taken from Re Magazine)

Step 1: Pray for guidance

Are you rushing around trying to fill your life with activity to avoid thinking about what you’d really like your life to be like. Trying to avoid being at a loose end and lonely. Or just busy with the demands of every day life and not making time for you or for God. Give God the opportunity to speak to you. Allow yourself some time. Ask him to speak, and wait for that still small voice. Psalm 25:4-5 tells us that God will always direct and guide us on the right path. Just trust in His Word.

Step 2: When you think you know you’ve heard from God..think bigger!

If you’ve got a vision or a dream and you know you can achieve it- the chances are it’s not from God! So think bigger! And when you’ve thought big and you’re sitting there thinking, ‘There’s no way I can do this,’ that’s when God comes along and adds his ‘super’ to your ‘natural’.

Step 3: Write down your SMART goals

Write your Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely aims and review them frequently. ‘Many people fail in life, not for lack of ability or brains or even courage, but simply because they have never organised their energies around a goal.’ (Elbert Hubbard, American philanthropist).

Step 4: Surround yourself with a great team

Building the right team is one of the most crucial steps in realising your dream. Wherever possible, try to pull in the five-fold gifts to the church found in Ephesians 4:11 of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers.

Step 5: Think about it and speak about it all the time

Goal setting and new agendas help you to stay focused on what you want to achieve. They will lead and direct you toward the place you want to end up. Phillipians 4:8 says, ‘Whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.’

Step 6: Control your focus, doubt your doubts

The cynics will attack, and there will be days when the task seems too big. Stay focused! If God is for you then who can be against you! If God gave you a new agenda don’t you think he’ll equip you? You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Phillipians 4:13).

Step 7: Keep it Sweet and Simple

The KISS principle states that simplicity should be a key goal in design, and that unnecessary complexity should be avoided. So when setting goals, just make sure that you understand what you need to do to achieve them.

 Step 8: Give 100%

Successful people are committed to achieving their dreams and goals. It may take hard work, perseverance, sweat, tears, toil and sacrifice, but nothing worth having is achieved without effort and discipline. ‘Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord’ (Colossians 3:23).

Step 9: Set your mind to win

There is no other option to consider. Heaven and earth can be moved when we feel something is important enough. Literally, anything you want in life is achievable if you set your mind to it.

 Step 10: Keep the faith…

Especially when all around you are losing theirs. Faith is believing what is true; it’s hoping, embracing, and seizing the truth. If God has given you a new agenda as a result of your prayers and your faith is wavering, revert back to point 6 and doubt your doubts!
