I've just become a Christian recently and am amazed to have seen an article about the huge number of Christian festivals going on over the summer. I'm used to going to festivals like Womad and Glastonbury. Can anyone recommend which Christian festivals are the best and whether I'd enjoy going to them on my own.

Hi, I've been going to Greenbelt for years now and it's really great. There's masses of things to do, the programme is always really packed with a variety of things including music, talks, arts, worship and comedy. I haven't been to Womad or Glastenbury but I can certainly recommend Greenbelt. Furthermore the people are really friendly and I'm sure if you go on your own you'll find it really easy to meet others.

I have been enjoying Greenbelt for a number of years. I like the laid back feel, the real mixture of theologies, opinions and worship styles, and particularly the comedy. However this year I took a friend who is a veteran of New Wine and she was completely non-plussedby the absence of chairs in venues, the inefficiencies of the showers, queueing and the general chaos. Apparently New Wine do all the organisational things better. Which makes me think I probably wouldn't enjoy new wine.

I agree with you greenbelt is maybe more rustic than some other festivals i terms of faciltiies. but it does appeal to a wide cross section of the Christian community including a lot of people who don't always feel they fit into a theological box elsewhere.
My feeling is there would be uproar if people put seats in any of the venues!

I've been to New Wine every year since I was 2 (and I'm now 18) and think it is absolutely fantastic. I've also been to Soul Survivor for the past three years (I think?) and this it's even better. It really depends what age you are I think. In my opinion, New Wine is best for children up to the age of about 14, and for adults above about 35. Soul Survivor is best for people between the ages of 14 and 35! To be honest, I'm sure you'll have an amazing time whether you go to Greenbelt, New Wine or Soul Survivor (or even Spring Harvest at Easter), but those are my recommendations :)

I belong to the Salt and Light group of churches and they have a summer camp meet most years, this year it is in France but generally in the UK, perhaps your church has a similar meet?:)
