What do you normally look for in a potential partner/friend? Do you tend to like people who are duplicates of yourself or do you go for complete opposites? An ex partner of mine seemed to be the complete opposite - untidy, loud, disorganised and stingy! I could never have coped with that! So tell me, can a vegan and a meat lover find love? Do opposites really attract??

I have often thought about this myself and I have now come to the conclusion that opposites (when it comes to a long lasting relationship) do not work! Think about it... yeah sure in the beginning its fun, amusing and even cute to be with someone who is totally opposite to you, but in the long term these things will ware thin. All the conflicts that you initially laughed off will now make or break your relationship i.e. a christian dating a muslim - sure you both thought that you could 'convert' each other but when that doesn't happen, who's going to 'give in'? If you want marriage and he doesn't? You want to buy and he rent? You want to save and he spend? You want children, he doesn't? I could go on! I have had around 3 serious relationships in my 32 years and all 3 of these males were the male version of myself. I have always said that I wanted someone who was just like myself but a male, and it makes sense! In my opinion, being with someone who is like yourself just compliments who you are and makes life so much more interesting and fun. While being with someone who's opposite equals conflict eventually - don't get me wrong, conflicts comes in any relationship, however some can be avoided!
