This is a poem that I wrote for for our church for Easter.

You Are

Come, Jesus Christ, this Easter Day,
Come to my heart, fill me with fire;
A fire that sets my heart aflame
And fans the steely thorns of pain.

You are the sun, you are the moon,
You are the blade of grass so green.
You are the earth, you are the sky,
The twinkling stars amidst the dark.

You are the rose, so white, so pure,
Each petal moulded by your hand.
The soaring raven, screeching owl,
These things you are, you reign supreme.

The scent that lingers in the air
Is succoured by your endless breath,
The breath of light, the breath of day,
These things you are because YOU ARE.

You are the raging lion at war,
The thunderous tumult midst the pain.
Yours is the might; yours is the strength
That gathers up my feeble frame.

You are the cooing dove of peace,
The soaring raven in full flight,
The still small voice beneath the storm
That calms the raging fiery flame.

You are the day that follows night;
You are the dawn that bans despair.
Your arms so gentle do embrace
My fragile heart, my fragile mind.

A crown of thorns was your cruel lot;
A sip of water quenched your thirst.
For you died on that rugged cross
That I, a sinner, might be saved.

Father, they know not what they do,
Your simple plea amidst your pain;
That Father God be glorified
Throughout a world, plunged deep in sin.

And on this glorious Easter Day
You kept your promise to us all,
And rose again that we might live
And see your face forever more.

You are my peace, you are my hope,
My love, my heart, my mind, my all.
You are the great I AM, you are
My Father, yearning for my call.
