friendsfirst, the Christian friendship/dating agency, has just celebrated its 100th member to get married having found true love through the organisation.
Remarkably, the ages of these people range from the youngest at 25 to the oldest at 87 with almost every age represented in between.
With the percentage of marriages of people in their 20s 30s 40s 50s and 60s being almost identical within the organisation, friendsfirst demonstrates that the people seeking soul mates through such an agency are no longer just people in their 20s and 30s. In fact far from it – over 50% of the people who’ve got married are over 50 years of age.
With 1000s of members and a service that is attractive to both the young, middle aged and retired person, friendsfirst is one of the few agencies to truly have members in every age group.
Katharine Gray, the Director of friendsfirst commented “Many agencies these days only cater for young people in their 20s and 30s. We get a lot of people who come to us having been told by other organisations that they are too old to date and that there’s no-one suitable for them ‘out there’.”
With 71% of the friendsfirst members being aged between 40 and 69 and a further 15% in their 30s and 11% in their 70s, it’s easy to see why friendsfirst has such a wide appeal across all age groups and why they have been so successful at matchmaking Christians of all ages.
And a range of ages isn’t the only thing friendsfirst boasts of. These 100 people who have got married live across the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland coming from as far North as Fife in Scotland, as far South as Chichester in Sussex, as far West as Bodmin in Cornwall and as far East as Kings Lynn in Norfolk.
friendsfirst is now in its 8th year of operation and, since it began in 1999, it’s seen a steady stream of people getting married.
“We’re often invited to the weddings of our couples” says Julia, the friendsfirst Membership Manager, but sometimes it’s hard to go – especially when you are invited to 3 on the same day, as happened when 3 couples got married on 6th October last month.”
