MEMBERS IN NORTH YORKSHIRE

North Yorkshire seems a long way from the friendsfirst head office in the Midlands but we do have a considerable number of members in this county (and lots more in South and West Yorkshire!)

Not surprisingly therefore that we have a happy story from that part of the world. Sheila’s husband had died in a motor cycle accident and she was 58 and feeling very alone when her two sons both left home to follow their careers. Having read about friendsfirst in the Church Times she decided to join. Sheila initially regretted this decision, but with encouragement from the friendsfirst team she did study the profiles she’d been sent and contacted Keith from Sheffield, as that was her original home town and she felt they might have something in common. After several texts, they spoke on the phone and discovered they had many friends in common though their own paths had never crossed.

They met up within a month, got along famously and were soon engaged to be married with the full blessing of their families. Keith has now moved from Sheffied to Middlesbrough and they both feel enormously glad that they joined friendsfirst and persevered with their quest for a partner with the help and encouragement of Katharine and her staff.
