MEMBERS IN LONDON

Not surprisingly a large number of our members come from London.

And we all know what a lonely place a big city can be. 

A heartwarming story came to us recently of one of our members from here who, at 48, had just about given up hope of ever finding her soul mate. Stephanie had been with us for one year and although she’d had quite a few contacts, none of them really matched up to the type of high powered professional she was looking for – being a senior medic herself. Luckily, however, she decided to renew her membership of friendsfirst, and see if a further year would find her someone. The following month she received a letter from James. He seemed to tick all the boxes, except perhaps in the looks department. They arranged to meet and Stephanie very quickly realized how wrong she had been to pay so much attention to his photograph. They  were ideally suited and as James was not one for hanging about – within 5 months they were happily married and their advice to others is: pray – tell God your longings and dreams; persevere – never give up hope; and be prepared – for the unexpected.

The moral of this wonderful story (which you can read in full here) is that you can never judge people by a photograph and that carrying on even when you feel like giving up hope is always worth it. Stephanie thought she’d easily be able to meet someone living in London, but in fact this hadn’t been the case for her and then surprisingly when she joined us and got in touch with James he lived outside London. In fact we’ve had quite a few people from London get married and bizarrely they’ve all married someone outside of London.
