We have a heartwarming story of just such a member. Christine found herself alone after 21 years of marriage when her husband, an elder in their local church, departed with a member of the congregation. She was left with two teenage sons and felt strongly that she did not want to spend the rest of her life alone. One of her friends had joined friendsfirst and was married after a whirlwind romance. Christine, however, felt somewhat cynical about the whole thing. Nevertheless, she decided to give friendsfirst a try and determined to make best use of the money she had paid out she really took to heart all the "excellent and informative" dating tips given in the ‘Top Tips’ manual sent out with her welcome pack.

In her third mailing from friendsfirst she found Peter’s details. He was two hours away from her but they both decided after a very enjoyable phone conversation to meet at a middle point. The day went extremely well and many more days followed until finally Christine decided to introduce Peter to her sons. All went very well on both sides of the family and crunch time came when Peter asked her to marry him. She felt slightly panicked but decided to trust herself to God, who she felt had been, along with friendsfirst, instrumental in them finding each other.
