We are often asked how successful friendsfirst is?

If you judge success by the number of marriages we've had then we are very successful. And if you add in the numbers of people making new friends (which is what some people join for) then it's even better

About friendsfirst
Dear Katharine,

Welcome to friendsfirst's 12th newsletter.

In case you've missed our previous newsletters..... we are a Christian friendship organisation that assists single Christians to meet other single Christians for friendship and relationships. We offer a successful off-line personalised one to one service that is very different from internet dating!

If you are single and deep down would like more Christian friends or someone special in your life then read on for more information about our organisation.
If you are married or in a relationship, please forward this newsletter on to any single friends you have. Even if they haven't explicitly acknowledged it to you, they are probably looking for someone special too and getting our newsletter may be their first step to finding someone!

We trust you will enjoy this newsletter,
With best wishes,
Katharine Gray - Director, and the team at friendsfirst

If so, then the good news is that we have an arrangement with Chris Knott Insurance which entitles anyone associated with friendsfirst to get significant discounts on all types of insurance. We have already saved people 100s of pounds and you could soon be one of them! If you'd like to make significant savings on all or any of your insurance, then ring them on 0800 917 2274 for a quotation. Just mention " friendsfirst" when you call and I'm sure you'll be delighted with the figures they give you. Click here for more information.
The August bank holiday saw us exhibiting at Greenbelt - the Christian Arts festival held in Cheltenham. What a glorious 4 days we had there and it was wonderful to meet so many of our members, associates and supporters.
This year's two holidays sold out again and on one a couple met and are now engaged to be married! It just shows what can happen when you do something different in your life.
6th October was a special date for us here in the office. Three couples (Christine and Peter, Janet and Barrie, and Graham and Helen) who'd all met through us, chose this as their special date to get married. We wish them great happiness in their lives together.

friendsfirst's EVENTS - Christmas is coming!

It may seem a while away but blink and Christmas will be upon us. Do you want to get out and meet some new people? Are you fed up with office Christmas parties that aren't much fun? Then come to one of the Christmas events we are holding in Birmingham this year. We have organised a lunch on Sunday 9th December and a dinner on Friday 14th December, so whether you prefer a daytime or evening event there's something for you. Tickets are already selling fast and as places are limited, we suggest you book early if you'd like to come. For more details, click here.

Did you know?

Owning a pet can reduce a single person's chance of finding a partner by as much as 40%. 26% of men say they would not date a woman who owned two or more cats, while 36% of women are put off if a man shares his bed with his pet. 48% of women would refuse to date a man who owned a spider. If a prospective partner were allergic to their pet 25% of people would favour the pet over the partner! (Source: Parship/Guardian)

Wit and Wisdom

Finding love - 'giving and reading the right signals'

As a Christian, prayer should play an important part in finding a soul mate. However we also have to put some hard work in ourselves. We must pray as if it all depended on God, yet work as if it all depended on us. The two go hand-in-hand together - neither can be neglected. So if we're doing our part, it's worth keeping up-to-date with what the scientists can tell us about this part of our lives.
Despite all the knowledge we now have about the process of finding love, there is still alot we don't know and we still often misunderstand what is happening to us. According to Martie Haselton at the University of California, when it comes to romance, things like smell play a much larger part in our decision making process than we might imagine (or like!) Also there are an optimum number of possible mates we should be examining before we make our final choice. Do you know that number? Click here to read more about her work and findings.

What MEMBERS say about us.

Last week we received an email from one of our members entitled "Praise God for friendsfirst now and forever." The email told us the story of a man who'd met the woman of his dreams through us and was now engaged to be married. He'd been with us for 2 years and has been well rewarded for his perseverance. We are thrilled for him.
Yesterday, a lady said on the telephone:- "It really helps when I get your calls - it makes me feel someone is out there to help me." We certainly are!
You can read lots more feedback from our members on our website (click here) and see why we are different from many uncontactable faceless organisations. (We have recently spent hours trying in vain to get hold of BT!) We really do support our members to find good friends and long term relationships - and the results speak for themselves.
If you'd like to be part of an organisation that could lead you to finding new and special friends, then call us NOW on 0121 427 1286.
