We are often asked how successful friendsfirst is?
If you judge success by the number of marriages we've had then we are very successful. And if you add in the numbers of people making new friends (which is what some people join for) then it's even better

Busy but just not meeing the right people?
Hailey was outgoing and active. She was meeting lots of people but very few of the right age.
Chris - a busy music teacher - knew he was keen to be in a relationship but the truth was he was giving precious little time to meeting other people.
Both knew that something significant had to change.
Hailey and Chris joined friendsfirst within 14 days of each other. They received each other's details and decided to meet. After initially taking things slowly they soon fell in love and were married 2 years later.
If you're too busy to put your love life first, why not join friendsfirst and restore your work-love balance? Call our Membership Manager today on 0121 427 1286

Settle for less in love!
Whatever your age - are you holding out for Mr or Miss Perfect? It's a very common thing to do but could leave you single for a lot longer than you'd like. We came across an article recently in The Sunday Times and thought it was extremely thought provoking. Titled 'Settle for less', subtitled 'If you want a family, find a man and marry him. Don't waste time waiting for the one, says 40 year old singleton Laurie Gottlier.' The principles apply whatever your age. Click here to read it in full.
Commitment - food for thought
Do you know this poem by the German poet Goethe? It's very inspiring for many different life situations. I hope you find it useful.
Until one is committed,
there is hesitancy,
the chance to draw back,
always ineffectiveness.
Concerning all acts of initiative and creation,
there is one elementary truth
the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans.
That, the moment one definitely commits oneself,
then Providence moves too.
All sorts of things occur to help one
that would never otherwise have occurred.
A whole stream of events issues from the decision,
raising in one's favour all manner
of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance,
which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.
Whatever you can do,
or dream you can,
Begin it.
Boldness has genius,
power and magic in it.
Begin it now.
You've probably heard us talk before about Debbie Maken's book Getting Serious about getting married: Rethinking the gift of singleness. It's a truly thought-provoking and radically challenging book on the views that many single people, many churches and many vicars have on singleness in the church today. We highly recommend reading it if you are single or have anything to do with any single people - whatever their age. Debbie Maken has a blog and it's worth having a look at it too to see what effect the book is having. You can reach the blog by clicking here.
