We are often asked how successful friendsfirst is?

If you judge success by the number of marriages we've had then we are very successful. And if you add in the numbers of people making new friends (which is what some people join for) then it's even better

About friendsfirst
Dear Friends First,

Welcome to friendsfirst's 11th newsletter.

In case you've missed our previous newsletters..... we are a Christian friendship organisation that assists single Christians to meet other single Christians for friendship and relationships. We offer a successful off line personalised one to one service that is very different from internet dating!

If you are single and deep down would like someone special in your life then read on for more information about our organisation.
If you are married or in a relationship, please forward this newsletter on to any single friends you have. Even if they haven't explicitly acknowledged it to you, they are probably looking for someone special too and getting our newsletter may be their first step to finding someone!

We trust you will enjoy this newsletter,
With best wishes,
Katharine Gray - Director, and the team at friendsfirst

FRIENDSFIRST EVENTS and HOLIDAYS
It was just lovely to meet some of you - members and friends - at the Christian Resources Exhibition in May. Our stand made waves - we got loads of really positive comments about it - and it certainly made many people think about the whole issue of friendship and marriage and quite how hard it is for some people being single in our churches today.
The speed dating events run on each day also went well - and from the matching that went on afterwards, it seems like there were lots of good meetings between people.
The two holidays coming up in July and September are already booking well so if you haven't fixed up your summer holiday yet then do consider these. And don't forget they are open to non members as well as members of friendsfirst. Please don't leave it too late to book as they will sell out especially given the excellent value they are and the fact that not only is there NO single supplement, but even better, you can get a discount if you share a room. For more details on either of these holidays including prices and booking information click here.
And of course the biggest events of all this year are another 5 couples due to get married before the end of the year - all who've met through friendsfirst! What we love about people ringing us to tell us they are engaged, is that they are always so surprised that it's happened to them. It just shows that whoever you are, whatever you do, if you want to find someone special in your life, it can happen to you too. Watch the feedback section of our website for their stories.
WIT and WISDOM
When it comes to love and friendship and being a member of an organisation like friendsfirst here are some quotes and statistics to make you think......
Friendship now officially has a price. A study for the Journal of Socio-Economics founds that the psychological benefits of friendship are equivalent to a £87,000 pay rise. Getting married is worth an extra £50,000.
"Failure is lovely and easy." Howard Jacobson
"Some men spend a lifetime in an attempt to comprehend the complexities of women. Others preoccupy themselves with simpler tasks, such as understanding the theory of relativity." Albert Einstein
"Days are lost lamenting over lost days. What you can do, or think you can do, begin it." Goethe
FRIENDSFIRSTs news
We've recently completely updated and revamped and expanded our website. Please take a look and let us know what you think of it. It's now much easier to join online, as well as ordering a range of resources - from books to courses to advice. Click here to take a look.
Julia Fulukiya has recently joined us as another membership manager - so when you call us you may well find yourself speaking to her. However if you'd rather talk to a man, then of course you can still request to talk to Wayne.
ARTICLES on finding and keeping relationships
So you're interested in dating or at least finding new friends. But how do you go about it successfully? Joining an agency or even putting an advert in the paper requires some careful thought on how you'd describe yourself. Do you have the right formula? Do you get replies?
We found a fascinating article in the Times newspaper that addresses just that issue. Psychologist Richard Wiseman thinks he knows the answer to the secret of a successful lonely hearts ad! - It about talking less about your soulmate and more about you. Click here to read more.
We found Mark Greene's article in Christianity in May: What's marriage for? very interesting. If you didn't see it, click on the link to be able to read it. I'm sure it'll make you think.
JOIN and get your PHOTOGRAPH included for free
If you join before the end of July we'll include your photograph for FREE in your profile. This is a great way to get responses to your profile - and if you read the article on profiles above, you'll be well set up to meet lots of new people. Click here to join friendsfirst

That's all for now. I hope you have enjoyed reading our latest newsletter. We would love to hear what you think of it and of course if you have any suggestions or requests for the next edition please email us at editors@friends1st.co.uk. And last but not least - if you really want to start making new Christian friends, give us a call today.
